How did you know they were the one?

We have been friends for years, but we kept overlooking one another for one reason or another. (More like I was overlooking the good quiet guy, lol) I was vivacious and free-spirited, while he was cautious and structured, so we weren’t on each other’s radar. I was searching for an intoxicating passionate instantaneous spark when I met my Mr. Right, not realizing that my Mr. Right would possess a slow and steady marinated type of love! Our differences brought us together and balanced us out beautifully! So, when I moved back to Dayton, Ohio in the Spring of 2019, we reconnected and decided to give each other a real chance at a relationship! Within months, we knew each other was the one! We trusted, believed, and found a unique yet complementary love together!!! God gave us what we needed instead of what we wanted. His plan was ten folds better than what we ever expected or thought we deserved.

We have the most magical unexpected proposal story. John surprised me with an unexpected one of a kind Harry Pottery inspired proposal. Talk about out of the box! It is my favorite, and every single detail was out of a fairytale. I had no idea what was going on, as I was completely swept away with a surprise scavenger hunt leading up to the big question.

John scheduled a spa day for me to get a massage, my hair nails, and toes done, with plans for me to help brother-n-law surprise my twin sister with a date night, later that evening. So when my brother-in-law showed up in a Maserati, I figured he had picked up the car for the date, before we went to pick my twin sister out a dress and jewelry. I thought this was the beginning of a surprise for my sister. I even bragged on him to everyone in the nail shop that he was surprising his pregnant wife with a beautiful date!

So as I got into the car, he decided to take a slight detour to my house, and there the surprises started to unfold. I am still clueless as I walk into my living room and see an arrangement of outfit options to choose from. After retrieving the first letter from a messenger owl, I figured John was hosting another epic date night for us, since he is the romantic type, but this was just the tip of the iceberg. Nothing was planned, so I rushed to do my makeup and get dressed. Since I had to rush, I jumped in the car, hoping I captured a regal ball look, similar to the one from the “Goblet of Fire” movie! Not knowing what to expect, I was then taken to the Dragon stadium where we went on our first date, and then shortly after driven to one are restaurants Cooper Hawk, where I received two additional letters, with adoring messages about our journey together. Though all signs were pointing to the proposal, I was still oblivious to what was happening around me and convinced myself that this was just another date.

As we pulled up to our final stop, my heart raced and tears started to stream down my face!!! There he was the man God had sent to me, looking handsome as ever!!! As I got out of the car, we were magically transported to another world, engulfed by all the beautiful Christmas trees and candles. He guided us to our own personal sanctuary as if it was carved right out of the movie!!! Not one detail was missed from the owls, to the music, to floating candles illuminating the trees, it was perfect!!!!! From the theatrics to the mystical energy, he truly captured the essence and beauty of our love! It felt like time had stood still and it was just him and I!

What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?

We love traveling together and eating great food. He has taken me on some of the most fun dates/vacations, and we love trying new things together! It feels wonderful having someone who is always thinking outside the box! Being spontaneous is extremely important to me, so knowing he loves me enough to put himself out there is huge. He knows we will always have an adventure together and that we will never get bored!

How has wedding planning been so far?

The wedding plans are still up in the air with COVID still lingering, but we are leaning towards an intimate affair; whether it be via a mini wedding or a destination wedding. We are still on cloud 9 from his epic proposal.
