Featured in MunaLuchi Bridal magazine, Issue No. 27 Zakiyrah and Trey tied the knot in a dreamy modern, garden-inspired wedding ceremony in Atlanta.
We definitely can say that, we love it when love suddenly shows up in the most unexpected places! Unexpected was definitely THE keyword with Trey and Zakiyrah after she liked a few of his posts on Instagram. The couple, who initially dated but decided to remain friends, gave love another try and this time it led to a YES!
Speaking of creative and romantic proposals, after listening to Zakiyrah’s desire to go to a treehouse, Trey decided to do something even better and gave her the proposal of a lifetime in a treehouse of course! After experiencing that memorable day with family and friends on Zoom, the couple enlisted the help of J Hill Events to create an extraordinary experience in the Southern Exchange Ballrooms that mixed rich history with modern elegance.
Romantic daytime candlelight flickered and enchanting floral arrangements delicately perfumed the venue helping to set the mood of the day with tall crystal and gold candelabras which welcomed guests with soft light. Pretty greenery naturally cascaded down tall gold columns as guests entered the White Hall Ballroom under massive crystal chandeliers to enjoy the magical moments of Trey and Zakiyrah’s spectacular I Do’s.

Our proposal story…
Trey: So, I never thought I’d meet my wife on Instagram. One day, I logged on to the app and saw about five or six likes in a row. (She will say it was only two or three lol, but clearly, she wanted me to see that she saw me.) Basically, she threw me the alley-oop and I dunked it. I slid into the DM and we began talking and eventually started dating. The first time around, it didn’t work out. I knew she had the qualities of a wife but I was not in the mental place to receive that. We stopped dating each other but remained friends. I think that was critical. The second time around came about, and I knew I was ready for her. I’m glad she was still on the market and the rest, as they say, is history.
Fast forward about a year and a half later and I wanted to give her the proposal she deserved! I always knew that she wanted to go to a treehouse, so I rented out the Atlanta Treehouse, disguised it as a birthday photoshoot (with roses in the shape of a heart on the floor), and secretly had her family and friends watching on Zoom. I got one of her favorite artists to perform and lastly, I popped the question. It was a beautiful, romantic proposal that will always be remembered.
Finding “The One”…
Trey: I knew that Zakiyrah was the one because she was the first woman to make me want to be a better man.
Zakiyrah: I knew that Trey was “The one” because God confirmed to me he would be my husband, I always felt peace when he was around, and he made me feel secure in all my insecurities.
Bridal style…
I opted to go with a mermaid-style gown from my wedding gown sponsor, Allure Bridals. I loved the sequined bodice, the low-cut detailed back with the buttons, and the unique pattern, which gave me the timeless look I was going for. My dream was to have a very long train, so after working with a trusted seamstress we were able to get the train to a total of 9 ft. My favorite wedding accessory was my hairpiece by Glam By Maame.
The setting…
Our venue encompassed the perfect blend of “rich history meets modern elegance”.

Making memories…
There were so many amazing memories from our big day. But if we had to choose one that stood out, it would have to be our wedding vows. They were powerful, heartfelt, and truly written with love. We both made each other cry (especially Trey haha).
Mr. & Mrs…
Before I’Do…
On your wedding day, make sure that you carve out time for a private moment (even if it’s 10 minutes) for just the two of you after your ceremony and pictures but before the reception. That way you can pause, reflect and enjoy each other without distractions. Everything flies by so quickly during the course of your wedding, so be sure to relish in that intimate, quiet moment together.
Cheers from us…
Thanks to so many people reposting and sharing our wedding, it reached millions of people across the world. We received countless messages from people that gained a newfound hope about finding their true love or discovering self-love just by watching our love story. Our union was a beautiful experience that changed not only our lives but positively impacted so many people that we may never meet. Love always wins!
