What do you get when you put two stylish people right in the heart of Regent Street in London? A stylish engagement celebration that showcased Abi and Joe’s love of creativity and fashion!
Ashleigh Joy Photography’s early morning photoshoot captured the couple’s fashion sense and love for each other as they showed up and showed out in the middle of the major shopping district in West London.
Abi gave us mega-watt glamour while wearing a metallic sequined embellished dress with a sleek ponytail and gorgeous makeup. The groom-to-be Joseph looked equally dashing in a smart double-breasted suit.
We gave our photographer Ashleigh and videographer Martin creative freedom to do pretty much whatever they wanted and they were able to capture really magical moments.

She said “Yes”…
How they met…
We met briefly over 10 years ago at a youth camp, we knew each other from a distance and ran in the same circles but we never really spoke. Time passed by and one day
Daniel, Joseph’s came to visit my girlfriends and I at our dorms and he brought Joseph. But before they came, we had ordered some food and I had offered Joseph some of my chicken and that’s when the conversation started. Joseph says that this is when I caught his attention – it was the chicken that did it! side eye
Their first date…
At the time of our first date, we both lived in different cities. The central point for us was Birmingham. The plan was simple. Dinner and a movie. Nothing could go wrong. Only problem was, something did! Abi was two hours late! She missed her train and is notoriously bad with public transport. I (Joseph) was preparing to live out the date by myself before heading back to London when she eventually turned up. We went to watch “The Kingsman” before getting a bite to eat in Chinatown. I had somewhere in mind and we spent half an hour looking for the restaurant only to find out it no longer existed! After finding a nice place, the conversation was flowing and everything was going well. I remember looking at my watch and seeing how late it was. I asked Abi, “What time is your last train?” She had missed it! I waited with her for an hour until a friend of hers came to pick her up. Eventful day to say the least and I’m glad to say that the time management and organization skills shown here are not in any way a reflection of us as a couple. lol
Their proposal story…
Joseph handed me another red envelope, to be honest I don’t think I read it properly. The words entered and left my brain at the same speed, I just remember getting to the bottom of the letter and it read, “that’s what makes my next question easy to ask…” I looked up and Joseph was on bended knee. Naturally … I started laughing. I was getting hot flashes … all I remember is hearing “Abi, I’m still here … are you going to say yes?” Of course I said yes and stopped people on the road to take pictures of us.
When they knew they found “the one”…
It was something we really grew into. The more we got to know each other, the more we knew we were meant for one another. It’s a beautiful thing to find someone who has similar values, empowers and compliments you, as well as being your best friend.
Engagement session style & theme…
We didn’t really have a theme in mind. We knew how we wanted it to feel, and we wanted it to be true to who we are as a couple. We’re both creative and into fashion and we wanted it to feel quite modern.
Favorite thing to do as a couple…
Our favorite things are traveling and trying out new foods.
Wedding planning so far…
Wedding planning has been an emotional roller coaster. We have had to change our vision to make it practical for the covid restrictions and make the day something we would love. So split our budget and created little moments to share with our family and friends.
What they’re looking forward to most on their wedding day…
What we’re most looking forward to is saying ‘I do’. It has taken us so long to get to this point and at times it didn’t feel like it would happen because of all the Covid restrictions and constant changes with law.
