Toyree and Melvin have been part of each other’s lives since initially meeting in middle school.
Building a friendship over time, life would eventually take them separate ways until reconnecting after college. It was during the birthday celebration of a mutual friend where Toyree and Melvin’s paths once again crossed. Soon they were setting up the first date of a candle-lit dinner cooked by Melvin where they “talked for hours” remaining inseparable ever since. For their engagement session, they changed into six different outfits representing 6 different decades including the 20s, 50s, 70s, 80, 90s, and current day.” Check out all the fun looks below!

How did you meet? We initially met in middle school, age 13. We reconnected after college at a friend’s birthday dinner, March 2013, dating intermittently until we became a couple in May 2016.
Tell us your proposal story. We were on a cabin trip in the Great Smokey Mountains in Tennessee with 14 mutual friends in November 2018. This was the area near where I went to college. One night in the cabin, the group had a “game night.” During our turn, while playing the Hearing Things game, Melvin whispered different phrases that I had to guess with the headphones on my ears. He finally whispered, “Will you marry me?” I eventually figured out the phrase! Melvin then got on one knee, pulled out the ring, and proposed! Of course, I cried and said yes! Our friends surrounded us with love and a congratulations cake (apparently the whole group was in on the plan except me)!
Describe your engagement session. Our theme was “Loving You Throughout Time.” We changed into six different outfits representing different decades including the 20s, 50s, 70s, 80/90s, and current day.
What did you do on your first date? Melvin cooked dinner for me, preparing shrimp alfredo pasta and garlic bread, lit candles, enjoyed wine and listened to jazz music while talking for hours.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? Have fun; hiking, playing games, creating music, paintball, cook, and explore new places.
How has wedding planning been so far? It’s not as stressful as we have heard planning could be. Enjoying the process so far.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day. Getting to enjoy the moment we are planning for all year. Seeing one another surrounded by loved ones. Most of all finally becoming the Davis’ and starting another chapter together.
