Kelsay and Elijah celebrated their love with family and friends at their timeless rooftop wedding at the Cambria Hotel in Asheville, North Carolina!
From the swoon-worthy soft and romantic color scheme to the bride’s lush bouquet, and the couple’s intimate hike to the top of Craggy Gardens, their special day was beaming with classic romance.
With the help of her husband, bride Kelsay put on hiking boots and did the climb in her beautiful lace and satin wedding dress.
Who would’ve thought I would be hiking in a wedding dress?! The climb was so worth it though!

How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.
Elijah and I met through a mutual friend at the University of South Carolina. We were cordial and would have small talk when we saw each other in passing or at social events. Elijah had a short run as an off-campus DJ and as destiny would have it, I attended his first gig and noticed that his set was LIT. It wasn’t until March 2015, at a social gathering for my friend that we connected. Elijah and I began talking via Snapchat about what songs he should play throughout the night and the conversation never ended. Weeks later, we went for fro-yo at my favorite place and the rest was history. We officially began dating on April 10, 2016, and were engaged on April 27, 2019.
One day while driving across Lake Murray, Elijah asked me if I’d ever been out on the lake- I hadn’t. Some time went by and two of my friends asked if we’d be interested in going on a couples boat trip and after much complaining to Elijah about the date/weather/ set up of the boat- I agreed. Fast forward to the day and we meet up to set out for a cruise with our friends, beautiful weather, and many laughs later we head back to the dock, where I was surprised to see my family and other close friends waiting for us with balloons and signs.
Tell us about your wedding? What was the inspiration behind your day?
When we began wedding planning, I was drawn to more classic color palettes so I knew that taupe and black were going to be right for us. I knew for florals I wanted to keep the palette simple as well for a timeless look overall. Due to our change in plans (250+ guests to 40 guests), we decided to keep our ceremony simple, but Elijah’s uncle officiated the ceremony, which was special for us.
How did you decorate the space for the ceremony and reception?
Our florist, Beyond Expectations LLC decorated our lunch space as well as our ceremony backdrop. I DIY’d our welcome sign with the help of Elijah! My bridal bouquet was the perfect touch from Blossoms Creative.
What were the florals like in your wedding?
Classic and timeless was the look we were going for! I knew that white and greenery would be the primary colors for the decor, but Beyond Expectations LLC was the brain behind the execution and final look. I knew for the bridal bouquet I wanted a “lush” look, and Blossoms Creative provided just that!
What were some of your favorite moments of the wedding?
Both of us enjoyed the speeches from family and friends and seeing each other for the first time. We also enjoyed the views from Craggy Pinnacle and the drive up to that point. We also incorporated a string trio to honor Elijah’s love for music as well as Kelsay’s seven years playing the violin.
How did you both choose your wedding day look?
My FAV part of the wedding was seeing Elijah in his custom tux he’d been talking about. I was there to help him pick out the fabric that would be used but had not been a part of the fitting process. It turned out great! Green is both of our favorite colors, and it was a way to incorporate it without it actually becoming an official wedding color. For my dress, I didn’t know what style dress I wanted to go with initially but after trying out a few styles, I gravitated toward styles with lace and satin and I knew I wanted a detailed/ dramatic train! We had to switch the bridesmaid’s dresses at the last minute- which turned out better than I’d imagined. I loved that they had pockets and were able to be tied up to suit everyone’s personal style. It was nice seeing it all come together that morning! The mountains were another favorite part! Who would’ve thought I would be hiking in a wedding dress?! The climb was so worth it though!
Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?
Our wedding planning advice would be to keep in mind that things might go “wrong” during the day but what truly matters is enjoying the moment with your partner.
