The saying is that whatever you do on New Years, you will be doing for the rest of the year. This certainly applied to us. And we have been inseparable ever since!
Aleasa and Kevin met on New Years Day. A day that everyone has their set resolutions in place. And usually these resolutions mean ones that would have a significant impact on their lives. Whether they are something small such as staying fit, finding a new job, or just being overall successful. But for Aleasa and Kevin it unknowingly meant that they would each find “the one”. No one goes around looking for love. It just happens in the most unexpected ways. And when it does, it such a beautiful moment that is undeniable. One that would keep anyone smiling throughout the New Year! Their timelessly beautiful Virginia engagement shoot was shot at Maymont Park in Richmond Virginia!

Tell us about how you met and all about the proposal!
“Kevin and I met through mutual friends over brunch New Years Day. The saying is that whatever you do on New Years, you will be doing for the rest of the year. This certainly applied to us. We have been inseparable ever since. Kevin popped the question right before Christmas which happened to be my birthday.”
“Although I knew it was coming, he did manage to keep it a surprise. We went to a very romantic restaurant called Portico in Richmond, VA. We had a beautiful dinner and then drinks on the patio by their huge outdoor fireplace. I just knew it was coming, then he asked if I was ready to go look at Christmas lights. I got my purse and we drove around Monument Avenue looking at all the beautiful decorations and gorgeous homes. I thought to myself he’s going to do it now, but again he didn’t.”
“Finally after a great evening we went home and I thought to myself, well that it was nice. But then he called me into our living room by the tree and said he had an early Christmas gift he wanted to give me. It was a photo album of all of our pictures since we met, dates, our two dogs, and our trip to Puerto Rico. On the last page was the ring tapped in with the day’s date. He got on one knee and asked me to marry him!!! And of course I said yes!”
How has wedding planning been so far?
“Planning on keeping it traditional and intimate with just family and close friends. Which is extremely important to me. The dress is an ivory lace mermaid style with long sleeves, backless and a cathedral train. It is by Essence of Australia from Tiffany’s Bridal in Richmond, VA. Shopping for the dress was actually the easy part. It was love at first sight and what I had always envisioned. The shoes were another story. I really wanted to have some bling somewhere incorporated and I thought why not have it on your shoes!”
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day?
“I envision having my mom, future mother-in-law, and maid of honor with me. It will be such a fun experience trying on all the dresses, drinking champagne and having the best girls day ever.”
“Advice I would give to any engaged couple is… elope. Just kidding! Just have fun, don’t worry or stress any of the details or things that come up and throw off plans. Keep in mind at the end of it all you get to marry your best friend and love of your life. Then before you know it your on the honeymoon!”
Their wedding is set for October 10, 2015 at the Lewis Ginter Botantical Gardens. We are anticipating a beautiful wedding and a love that will last for many New Years to come!
