Rupa Patel says her favorite moment during the reception of her destination wedding to Dhiren, besides dancing the night away, was hearing her husband’s emotional speech. So beautiful!
The couple met at Rupa’s birthday party and again while traveling with close friends but it wasn’t until after a Facebook interaction that the two began dating. As time went on, Dhiren would soon ask his sister to help out for his elaborate proposal.

Tell us about how you met and all about the proposal!
Dhiren and I went for a walk on West Wittering Beach when we first started dating which was very romantic. On our anniversary, Dhiren thought it would be nice to visit the beach again, but I didn’t know where exactly we were going so it was a surprise. We were walking along the beach and Dhiren kept walking away from me and in different directions. He pointed to an arrow in the sand and I followed the arrows. That’s when I saw the words ‘Rupa will you marry me?’ written in the sand. Dhiren got down on one knee and proposed.
His sister had come down before us and written in the sand and Dhiren couldn’t find where she had written it which is why he kept walking all over the beach!
Dhiren and I met through my cousin, Neil who brought Dhiren along to my birthday party one day. We met again when a large group of us went to Vienna and Hamberg. A couple of years later, Dhiren plucked up the courage to ask me out on Facebook. Although there is a debate about who instigated the chat. I did message him first to find out if I could buy an ipod using his discount and then it started from there.
Wedding Style
My wedding dress was a traditional red and white lengha with a splash of green with very detailed embroidery and it was extremely heavy! My favourite accessories were my bangles as my Uncles had purchased them for me from India, which is a tradition within our culture.
Help a bride-to-be out!
I highly recommend Pinterest as it really helps to bring your ideas together. Planning a wedding will no doubt be stressful at points but try to take a step back and have fun throughout the process! Not everything does and will go to plan on the day of the wedding but remember to stay positive and it will all somehow work out on the big day. Have fun & enjoy it!
