How did you meet? How did he propose?
We met at a wedding in Houston. I’m usually a very friendly person anyways but in this case the connection was instantaneous. When I left we spent countless hours talking over the phone and getting to know each other some more. I went back to Houston to visit a friend and everything was history after that. The proposal was a big surprise. It happened during a wedding in Maryland. He had planned (with my sister) to propose on a Thursday but of course being a medical student I was always too busy so come Saturday, he convinced me to sneak away with him during a friend’s wedding. He started out by talking about how much he loved me and enjoyed my company but I was just thinking about how to get back to the wedding celebration so that we would not be missed, being that I was the maid of honor. I was in such a hurry to get back to the wedding that I almost missed when he said “I want to spend the rest of my life with you”. It just hit me like whattt??!! Of course you know my answer was a YES!
Describe your wedding day.
My wedding day was beautiful, emotionally there was a lot going on. I teared up as I was going out of the room to the event venue. All I kept thinking was “oh my God this is the beginning of the rest of my life, with this wonderful man”. I’m not the type to cry easily mind you…
What was the greatest memory?
We will always hold with us the memory of our parents being so supportive. Our families went above and beyond to support us and be there for us. They just wanted us to be happy and we are just overwhelmed by the love they showed.
Any advice for other brides-to-be planning a traditional wedding?
Try to be calm, try not to bump heads with family because family members tend to be very much more involved with the traditional ceremony than anything else. Everyone has recommendations, suggestions and ideas of how things should be, so just try to stay calm and relax. Let your family take care of the details and just smile, cuz you don’t want stress to mess your pictures. Enjoy your day because you can’t get married twice and you don’t want to mess your photos up looking stressed out.
