Bride & Groom: Trudean Haye & Jeremiah Page
Wedding date: August 6th 2017
Wedding location: Blue Bell Country Club, Blue Bell, PA
Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. Jeremiah and I met in the summer of 2013, at the time I wasn’t really ready for any kind of relationship nor was I interested in dating anyone. I had just started rebuilding my modeling portfolio and I was focused. I was leaving work one day when he stopped me and we talked for a moment and I realized we had a lot in common, so we exchanged numbers and a few months later we went on our first date and the rest is history.
The Proposal: I knew he was going to propose, call it intuition, but I knew. I just didn’t know when and for months I was on edge because I really hate surprises. But still, I made sure I was looking my best for every family event we attended because he wasn’t going to catch me off guard but he did. On January 17th 2016, we had dinner with his parents which was usual for us so I never thought anything of it. It was just another Sunday. We went home and in the midst of getting prepared for my work week there he was looking handsome as ever on his knee, my hair looking a mess, nails not done, completely shocked and surprised. It was perfect! I was glad he made it between us and not an entire crowd of people.
What was wedding shopping like for you? OMG, I waited 4 months before our wedding to actually start looking for a dress. I wasn’t in a rush nor was I worried. I had plans to visit various bridal boutiques in Philadelphia and New York but I fell in love with the first place I went to. I knew I wanted a ball gown wedding dress and It needed to be something that fit my personality and style plus I was getting it altered to add my comic book train. I found my dress at the first boutique I visited and it was magical, the moment I put it on I heard the angels singing.
Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding? YES! I’m from Jamaica and I wanted to incorporate something from my country that would mean a lot to me forever, so we got married on Jamaica’s Independence Day. August 6th. Of course we played a lot of dancehall and reggae music all night and we had our Jamaican flag there too.
Bridesmaids/Groomsmen gifts: I got my bridesmaids and maids of honor custom robes and rose-gold earrings that they wore on the day of the wedding. Jeremiah got his groomsmen comic book socks, ties, matching cufflinks and comic book t-shirts.
Favorite item on the menu: I loved everything on the menu. I ate it all. It was so good, it was all my favorite.
First dance song: Broadway Musical: Hamilton’s “Satisfied,” then Bryan Adams’ “When you love a woman.”
What is your best memory from your wedding? My best memory from my wedding, OH MY GOODNESS, I have so many but I think if I had to choose It would be when I surprised him with my rendition of the broadway musical Hamilton, and when my friends and family used the train on my dress to do the limbo, and of course my bridal team being in cosplay.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? Don’t rush! Weddings are magical, it’s about your love and sharing with everyone. It’s okay if things don’t go as planned, nothing is perfect. Learn to enjoy the moment and find the beauty in things not going as planned. Don’t let anyone force their ideas of what YOUR wedding should be like. This is a moment you’re going to remember forever so enjoy it and live in it.
