Memorial Day weekend in Miami is one big party; you are liable to meet new friends almost anywhere. That is how Raven and Tracy met; after a chance meeting in front of TGI Friday’s Raven and her friend agreed to meet up with Tracy and his friend later in the evening. They walked along the beach until sunrise getting to know each other and spent the rest of week hanging out. After they bid each other adieu and headed back to their respective homes the two continued to speak, which eventually led to frequent visits and a long distance relationship. After their trip to the Bahamas, they visited Miami, while their Tracy brought her back to where they first met and arranged an elaborate proposal that left everyone in tears. For their engagement session, they worked with Kauwuane Burton Photography to create a unique and passionate photo shoot, which displayed the couples overwhelming chemistry and the beautiful of vintage cars. We wish the couple all the happiness in the upcoming wedding!
How They Met
One of my line sisters and I traveled to Miami for Memorial Day weekend. We decided to go to TGI Fridays for dinner and opted to eat outside on the patio. Amongst all the chaos my line sister noticed two guys pull up in front of the restaurant on motorcycles and decided to go ask one of them if she could take a picture on the bike, I decided to go with her. After we took our pictures, she started to chat it up with the friendly biker, leaving me standing there. I noticed the other biker was sort of staring at me, so my liquid encouragement led me to boldly walk up to him and ask him what was wrong with him! He looked at me as if I was crazy and said, “What’s wrong with you…who are you?” He was cute so I smiled and said, “Sorry I’m Raven and you are? He responded with “you have such a pretty smile and I’m Tracy.” We chatted it up about the usual stuff, occupations, what HBCU’s we went to, Greek Life, etc. and all four of us made plans to meet up later that evening. Later on that night the bikers met up with us as planned, we decided to go our separate ways, Tracy, and I ended up on the beach. We literally stayed there ALL night until the sun rose talking about everything that we could possibly think of, and we pretty much hung out the remainder of the trip. When it was time to go home I was actually sad, he lived in Atlanta and I lived in DC. When I got home we still kept in contact, and our texts turned into daily conversations, which turned into weekend trips to visit each other, the rest is history.
The Proposal
We took a quick vacation to the Bahamas and decided to hang out in Miami a couple of days after we returned. We went to eat on the same patio at TGI Fridays where we met. We stood up to have the manger take a picture of us and all of a sudden a man comes out of nowhere with a video camera with the bright flash on directly in my face, I looked around and didn’t have a clue what was going on. The manager took our picture and Tracy says, “Wait there’s something else”…”You’ve got lipstick on your teeth” and wipes it off for me. Then dropped down on one knee, I honestly do not remember anything he said I was so shocked. I kept backing further and further away from him and eventually he pulled me back to him and asked, “Will you Marry Me?” I remember saying, “Are you Serious…YES” and I started crying. I looked up and the entire restaurant, wait staff included was in tears as well. It was special.
The Engagement Session
We wanted something different, something that you do not normally see in engagement pictures. Tracy and his entire family are really into old school cars and racing so we thought it would be unique to incorporate that in one of our shots.
Looking Forward to the Wedding
We truly are best friends; we look forward to spending forever together.
