It was simply divine intervention that brought Shayla and Lloyd together. They met at ministry school and began their relationship as friends. Lloyd showed interest in dating Shayla many times, and she shot him down. Slowly but surely her heart started to change, and when she finally gave Lloyd a chance, things moved quickly. Three months after making their relationship official, they were engaged. Shayla can recall their engagement like it was yesterday. She shares, “Lloyd planned a scavenger hunt for me that included horseback riding, spa time, a lunch date and shopping with friends, a surprise dinner on the lake, and culminating in a huge surprise engagement party with our closest friends and family! It was one of the best days of our lives, rivaled only by the wedding itself.”
Their wedding was a lovely mixture of modern, chic details with soft whimsical elements. Their spiritual ceremony took place outside with the gorgeous city skyline serving as a stylish urban backdrop. Shayla amazed in a custom Veluz gown, which featured a trumpet silhouette, 3/4 sleeves and an illusion and a portrait back. The entire bodice was embroidered with lace and embellished with Swarovski crystals. Her bridesmaids carried soft bouquets of roses and baby’s breath, which perfectly complimented their dresses in blush and tan tones. The couple honored their Christian beliefs by having a time of prayer and worship to open the ceremony and taking communion.
Guests headed inside for the reception and danced all night to live music. Shayla and Lloyd were so appreciative that friends traveled from near and far to celebrate their love. She shares, “Our wedding weekend was not just about Lloyd and I vowing to love and respect each other for the rest of our lives, but it also was about declaring this in front of the most important people in our lives. On the day of our wedding, we had 100 of our closest family and friends all under one roof and I couldn’t have been happier. It was actually hard for me to leave for the honeymoon the following evening because of how full my heart was to have all these people near.”
