Nothing reminds us more of our youth than a teenage love affair that comes back around. After reconnecting some years apart from each, Shella and David took the opportunity to reignite a flame that never truly went out. To celebrate their beautiful whirlwind of a relationship, Shella and David used the Brooklyn Bridge as a backdrop as they overlooked the city’s rich, urban landscape.

Tell us about how you met and all about the proposal.
David resided in Atl and I lived in NYC when we first started dating. He first saw me at my best friend Johanne’s house when I was in the 9th grade; David and my best friend are cousins. He told one of his friends that one day, I was going to be his wife. Ten years later, we met again. This time at David’s cousin, Nihila’s wedding. David asked to take a picture with me at that wedding- the first of many. We later met again in ATL and that’s when we started our lives together. We were in a long-distance relationship for approximately 3 years, then David relocated back home to NYC. David planned the surprise proposal for his graduation celebration party on May 27, 2018. He proposed in front of our families and close friends. On July 26, 2019, we would have been together for 8 years and on August 15, 2019, we will be married!
What did you do on your first date?
Our first date was at Brooklyn Bridge Park, which is why we went there for our engagement session. We had ice cream from the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
Our favorite thing to do as a couple is to lay on the couch watching TV and having a glass of wine. Oh, and let me not forget that we love going to Target late at night!
Describe your engagement session. Did you have a theme?
We enjoyed the engagement shoot but the weather was not on our side. It rained heavily throughout the session and it was freezing cold that day, however, Nana made us feel like it was an urban summertime. We enjoyed Nana’s spirit and the support from our wedding planner Alicia, from iLe Events.
How has wedding planning been so far?
Well initially wedding planning was a little bit anxiety-provoking, however, it has been a breeze thanks to Alicia of iLE Events and Selina of Vainglorious Brides
Tell us what you’re looking forward to the most on the wedding day? Being Mrs. Celestin and getting married to the man of my dreams, and of course the party!
