Every season Vera Wang blurs the lines of traditional and non- traditional wedding gowns with her daring designs and contemporary silhouettes. After previous seasons that included everything from black ballroom gowns, extreme high-low cuts and exaggerated bows, we thought we had seen it all from this risk-taking designer. Shockingly, Vera Wang shows us that she still has a few tricks up her sleeve with the unveiling of the Spring 2017 bridal collection through film, titled Désir à L’Anglaise – directed by Gordon von Steiner.
With the Spring 2017 collection, Vera Wang describes it as an ode to the famous French couturier Madam Grés, from who she derives inspiration. Désir à L’Anglaise celebrates “the profound restraint of the British monarchy, the grandeur of English aristocracy, and the drama of real ball gowns within the context of today”. From the corset and lace designed bodices, to the high necklines and shoulder detailing, this collection is made for the stylish contemporary bride who fancies a regal motif.
