It’s that time of year again…Bridal Market in NYC. This is the twice a year happenings in the wedding industry when bridal designers of all walks showcase their latest collections and give us a peek at the new trends to watch. For the Spring 2013 season, Vera Wang wowed us with her Spring 2013 collection of perfectly crafted gowns in various shades of red ranging from dahlia to scarlet to vermilion. The collection is called Mei Meng,” or “Beautiful Dream,” and she describes it as a “Celebration of Love.”
So why red? Well for Vera, its simple…she’s making a move into the Asian market – China is the first stop. With China’s growing influence on fashion, red which to the Chinese brings fortune and luck, is the logical choice. The question is, will Chinese brides buy Vera’s dresses in red over their traditional Chinese gowns? And how will red play out in Western markets? Only time will tell…until then, enjoy the collection.
