Aleyse, a First Grade Teacher said, “Yes” to Jonathan, an IT Specialist on a summer cruise. For the full love story, keep reading below.
Congratulations, Aleyse and Jonathan on your upcoming July 30th nuptials in Houston!
Tell us about how you met and all about the proposal!
We met through mutual friends who met on Blackplanet.com during our freshman year of college. Aleyse attended Baylor University and Jonathan attended Texas Southern University. Once we were introduced (via phone) we talked nonstop for about 3 months. Something always came up when they talked about meeting face to face but Aleyse and Jonathan continued to communicate on and off over the next 8 years. So, one day Aleyse messaged Jonathan on Facebook and said she was coming to TSU’s Homecoming the following weekend. They both were excited and nervous at the same time to finally meet face to face. They both were praying that they didn’t get “Catfished.” Everyday since then Jonathan and Aleyse have been inseparable.
Jonathan and Aleyse planned a cruise for July 20, 2014 with two other couples. On the third day, after Aleyse and Jonathan enjoyed their time in Grand Turks, they freshened up and prepared for the Captain’s dinner. When they took their seats at the table, Jonathan ordered a bottle of Aleyse’s favorite type of wine, Moscato and stood to make a toast. Everyone raised their glasses while Jonathan went around the table and told his friends what they mean to him. Jonathan went to Aleyse and began telling her how much she means to him and how much of an influence she has been in his life. He got down on one knee and asked Aleyse if she would spend the rest of her life with him.
The engagement session…
Our engagement session was amazing! We had a vintage/sports theme engagement session. We had a lot of fun interacting with each other and we couldn’t stop laughing and smiling. There was one moment in the middle of our session when we both stopped and looked at each other and said, “This is really happening. Our wedding is only 9 months away.” Our photographer, Daniel made us both comfortable during our session and made it seem like it was just the two of standing in the middle of Downtown Houston.
What did you do on your first date?
Our first date was the following morning of our first encounter before Aleyse and her friends went back to Dallas. We had breakfast at IHop and sat there and conversed for about two hours.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
The thing that Aleyse and Jonathan enjoy the most as a couple is trying out different restaurants. Aleyse loves cooking shows and thinks she is a chef at times. Being with Aleyse has really opened Jonathan’s eyes to trying different foods. Whenever they watch a show and they mention a different restaurant, they write it down and make it a point to try that spot the next time they are in a specific area.

I would love to see Jonathan cry as he watches me walk down the aisle.
