Jessica and Horace knew they wanted elements of fall incorporated in their wedding experience. The weekend before their engagement session Horace came up with the idea of a “Vintage Euro” theme. Central Park’s Vanderbilt Gate and Conservatory Garden served as the backdrop for the fun and fashionable e-session. Jessica’s merlot pencil skirt and cognac booties tied in perfectly with the changing leaves captured in the background. While Horace’s dapper look complete with a bow tie and maroon scarf complimented both his bride-to-be and the crisp season. But what truly tied their vintage theme together was the quaint picnic they set up in the park complete with an antique tea set, wicker baskets, and 1950s luggage.
What started out as just a vision became a beautiful and timeless e-session that Jessica and Horace will be able to cherish for years to come. Take a look at their vintage euro themed engagement session in Central Park captured by Coterie photographer Kesha Lambert.

Tell us all about the proposal!
Day after Christmas last year he took me for a “day of beauty.” I mean the whole nine yards, breakfast, nails, massage, designers house for an outfit, the mall , made sure I did my hair the night before and took me home to get dressed for a ” night out.” This all seemed normal if you ask me because these are things we usually do together.
When he picked me up he looked as handsome as ever! Of course I felt beautiful and ready to enjoy the night. Dancing maybe? Dinner? Fancy broadway show? Had no idea. We were driving and ended up in NYC, in Soho somewhere I didn’t know much of. He walked me into this restaurant I didn’t know what the name was or what was going on. He asked me to stand by the door inside while he went to park the car. He was back in a matter of a few minutes. There was a massive amount of people! “Must be good food,” I said to myself. When he came back he proceeded past me and right to the maitre d.’ The manager then walked us up to the front of the room to an empty table that seemed to stick out like a sore thumb right in front, by the stage! He sat us down, and he left to bring us a bottle of champagne. Horace then told me the name of where we were, City Winery for an Amel Larrieux concert! One of my favorite artists! I said, “this is the best Christmas ever!” and gave him a huge kiss.
Honestly, that was more than enough but little did I know. This little trickster and one of our close friends had designed a plan. They not only got us into this concert, but contacted management to do the proposal in the middle of her concert! She stopped and asked, “I think there might be someone in the room with a proposal for marriage.” In my head I was like OMG, that’s so sweet, she is so lucky. But of course I just followed the crowd and clapped and cheered. Within those seconds of me cheering for someone else Horace had her microphone in his hand and he was tooting up his lips getting ready to speak. I DIED instantly, the crowd cheered , and after it was all over my friends and family came running out from a private room that he prepared for them to stay so I didn’t see them. We later returned to that room after the concert was over for drinks and food. AMAZING!
What did you do on your first date?
We went out for a beautiful dinner in Montclair NJ. It was the most beautiful date I’d ever been on, even after dating for a year or so & then being on a soul searching intermission for 8 months, it was so beautiful getting to know each other as our “new restored STRONG selves.” Looking at each other and having both dramatically lost a combined weight of another adult ( 120 pounds) and being refreshed in the spirit of the Lord , it was like falling in love with someone all over again, in a more beautiful, pure, and serene way!
What are your favorite things to do as a couple?
Fellowship in church, ministry work, museums, art, music & concerts, workout, adventures, spend time with close friends, design , vision boards, inspire others!
How has wedding planning been so far?
Pretty awesome! Stressful at times marrying a man that LOVES everything about design, colors, florals, food, draping, invites and lighting. But it is all a blessing in disguise because I couldn’t have done it alone. In fact it may be one of the large factors of why I am marrying him, because we create awesome artistic vision!
In the midst of a year and half engagement we’ve taken the time to make sure every detail is what we wish. Sacrificing in some areas of the wedding to ensure the small details are just right. I think the best decision we have made is the guest list and to have a small intimate wedding and having an event that every detail will be noticed by our beloved guests.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day.
Honestly just partying with our family and friends as we celebrate the exchanging vows in a covenant that will be entirely blessed by God! The look on his face when I come down that aisle! And the cake, I really hope I get to taste the cake.
Congratulations to the beautiful couple. We absolutely loved everything about this vintage euro themed session! Can’t wait to see the wedding photos.
