Micah and Erica met four years ago on an online dating website. The chemistry was there, but it took a year for the two to fully appreciate that they were meant for each other.
In June 2014, Micah and Erica attended the D.C. Capital Jazz Festival which included performances by John Legend and Erykah Badu. During the concert, Erica noticed that Micah was quiet during John Legend’s first few songs, but thought he was just tired from work. When John Legend started performing his hit song, “All of Me”, Micah got up and started walking towards the aisle. Micah directed Erica to follow him, though she was reluctant. The event attendant told the two that they needed to sit down, but Micah whispered something into the attendant’s ear and she just smiled and stepped away. Then suddenly Micah got down on one knee and told Erica that he loved her and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.
After John Legend’s performance, the MC came back on and announced that he heard a young woman was proposed to during John Legend’s performance and requested that couple to come to the stage. Everyone in their section of the venue started screaming, telling them that they had to get on stage! Once the two made it to the stage, the MC handed Micah the microphone, to allow him to voice to the audience how he truly felt about Erica. “Micah then told me that he loved me and that I am the glue that keeps him together”, says Erica.
