Wedding Decor + Florals Inspired by The Color Purple

On Christmas day, 2023, a new musical iteration of the beloved film, The Color Purple, will be returning to theaters!

The original film, released by Warner Bros in 1985 and based on the novel by Alice Walker, is an epic journey following the life of Celie (played by Whoopi Goldberg), an African-American woman living in the South during the 1930s.

From youth into adulthood, Celie’s character navigates abuse and racial injustices. She ultimately survives, spurred onward by the dream of reuniting with her sister in Africa. Celie’s story is one of prevailing strength, determination, sisterhood, and Faith. It continues to inspire audiences everywhere today.

Almost 40 years after the original film’s premiere, The Color Purple returns on Christmas Day reimagined as a movie musical.

Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, H.E.R., Halle Bailey, Phylicia Pearl Mpasi, and Fantasia Barrino (debuting as Celie) will be starring in the film. Danielle Brooks (one of MunaLuchi’s very own cover brides!) and Fantasia Barrino will be reprising their roles from their respective musical adaptations of the film.

Purple & Magenta…

With the help of Statuesque Events, Trecya and Marcus’s vision for an outdoor purple and magenta-themed wedding became a reality. Their Maryland nuptials consisted of a gorgeous tented reception with unique decor (provided by Beau Decors) including table crystal chandeliers and purple and magenta floral arrangements.
