NY Fashion Week 2024 gave us over-the-top drama, moody vibes, and glamour that we can’t get enough of when we see the pink-colored calendar announce its arrival.
Fall/Winter 2024 embraced everything from bows to black and whites, high-wattage metallics, and red-hot reds to spice up the grey skies and chill in the air. The organized chaos of it all has us purging our closets to transition from winter to spring, while the fashion train is still roaring full speed ahead to its next season.
Fashion week arrived once again in the “Big Apple” and with it brought the masses of devoted fashion followers from the press to the persistent fashion students trying to finagle their way into the presentations and shows.
With that said, designers offered up a variety of collections that had everything from the apocalypse to the Gilded Age on the runways. Even our Muna Coterie members embraced the new look of the season with their own inspirational offerings for the fashionable masses. Here is a fashionable recap of some of the trends from their collections.
Metallics made waves on the catwalk …
While quiet luxury has taken over the social media streets and the real-life ones for what seems like an eternity, (Washington, DC I’m giving you the side eye), designers said enough is enough and presented metallics that will definitely add an unexpected pop of buzzy ‘here I am’ energy to everything from workwear to weddings. With so many options to choose from don’t just save these looks for a special occasion, wear them any time of day and any place.
Black or White or Both…
It’s black, it’s white, or you know what screw it, it can just be both. For another season black and white dominated the catwalk as creative directors galore at Weiderhoft, Bevza and 3.1 Phillip Lim embraced the classic pairing of these two colors jointly and separately.
Creative Director Wes Gordon at Carolina Herrera had the art of embellishment as one of his inspirations and our Munaluchi Coterie member Page XVII (17) By Jasmyne S. showed us her vivacious “Bebe” mini statement dress which is sure to be a staple at some of the most fashionable occasions of the season.
Christian Siriano and Thom Browne presented an array of luxe that spoke to post-apocalyptic glamour with Browne’s collection taking guests on a journey through Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Raven”.
Both shows announced that the theatricality of fashion is something to be cherished when it’s done correctly. Try this color combo which feels fresh and modern for any of your upcoming ceremonies from engagement day to your guest’s farewell dinner.
Red Reigned Supreme…
Red was interwoven throughout many of the collections that were presented but its meaning was as varied as the designers who presented them.
From Nardos’ luxurious hues but modern silhouettes that sought to evoke the Gilded Age to Prabal Gurung’s scarlet threads that conveyed deep personal grief, to Naeem Khan who is ever the king of glitz with his red carpet-worthy sequins and sex appeal.
Red will be one of the colors of the upcoming wedding season for the bride who is ready to be nothing short of sensational.
