There is so much time spent planning for your wedding. So why not celebrate your anniversary in style with an anniversary session?
Teralyn and Michael got married on July 29, 2017 and each year they try to do something fun for their anniversary. This year, they got ALL dolled up and dressed to the nines for a couples photoshoot. We absolutely love their style, and the photos by Mosaic by MG captured their connection perfectly.
Pro Tip: If you don’t have the time to plan an anniversary trip, try an anniversary photo shoot, or even better, make it a yearly family tradition to ensure you get new photos that you can look back on for years to come.
Couple: Michael and Teralyn Boyd
Occupations: Hairstylist/Salon Owner and Barber/Entrepreneur
Wedding date: July 29, 2017 in Baton Rouge, LA
How did you meet? (Teralyn’s version) We initially met when I was a junior in high school. After years of disconnection, we were reconnected on Facebook.
(Michael’s version) I initially met her walking through the mall, we connected for a lil while until I moved out of town for work. We reconnected many years later when she “stalked” me on Facebook (she’ll never admit it 🤣)
As far as the proposal, I was nervous as hell! I had my sister to help me pick out the perfect ring and because I was marrying into 4 kids (I have no biological kids) it was most important to me that they knew that I wasn’t just trying to marry their mother but also embracing them as my own kids. So I decided to make them a part of the proposal. I got t-shirts made for all of us. Taylor (oldest) had a t-shirt that said “Teralyn”, Malaysia (youngest) had a t-shirt that said “Will”, Michiah (3rd oldest) t-shirt said “You”, Mike (2nd oldest) t-shirt said “Marry” and my t-shirt said “Me?”
We were at a restaurant eating after church and it was time to pay. I had already told the kids to leave out to go change into their t-shirts and like clockwork, Teralyn asked what were they doing? So I was like, I will go outside and check, which allowed me time to change into my shirt. With her still sitting at the table we maneuvered in without her seeing us. Ironically there was someone there that we knew, so I gave her my phone to record the proposal. I had each one of our children to walk in with t-shirts on and stand in front of her. Then I finally walked in while Teralyn was trying to make sense of what was going on with each t-shirt together reading “Teralyn will you marry me?”
She was in total disbelief that it was happening, I then got down on one knee asked her to marry me and with tears flowing from her eyes she finally caught her breath and said YES! I also gave her a t-shirt that read “Yes!”. By the way, the video went viral.
When it comes to career, what do both of you do and how do you make time for one another?
“We are both in the hair industry, which requires long hours. It has been challenging because we are parents to four children so we play many roles. However, we try to take trips as often as we can so that we can spend time with each other. After work some evenings we will go have drinks and dinner (just us) before we go home into parent mode.” – Michael and Teralyn
Tell us about your anniversary session. What was the theme?
“My idea for the all-white look was for it to be classic, edgy, and sleek. I wanted to show how far we can go with our fashion. I would say that my inspiration always comes from being Envogue- A Diva. My husband fashion sense is timeless. For our second look, I wanted it to be sexy but clean. The floral print gave texture which I’m new to but loved how our stylist created these looks and how the mixed prints complemented each other. This look was Precise, Distinctive, Personable and very Tasteful.” – Teralyn
How did you go about selecting your photographer?
“Shagari is always our choice for photography because he never fails us. He is a true artist and he has an eye for a great capture. He will go to various lengths to be sure that he captures great photos. He is creative and my husband and I are always comfortable to be ourselves while shooting. Every picture that he captures, you can literally feel how we are feeling one another.” – Michael + Teralyn
As you celebrate your anniversary, what do you remember about your wedding day?
“We remember the way that we felt on our day. The love was very thrilling, we were into each other. If anything went wrong, we didn’t care. It was all about us. We don’t have any thoughts of what we would have done differently. It was perfect for us and for us. Saying our vows and celebrating with our family and friends was all that we could ask for. ” – Michael + Teralyn
What are your favorite things to do as a couple?
“Besides going on couples trips, going on getaways(just us) our favorite thing is to go eat ice cream together. We love going to marble slab, sitting outside talking and eating ice cream. We have several ice cream dates.” – Michael + Teralyn
Who cooks? “I do most of the cooking. My husband does the barbeque when we are having a gathering at the house.” – Teralyn
What would you say are the most important elements for a successful marriage and what are your top tips for keeping the sparks flying?
“The most important element is making sure that we keep God first, Second is Trust and Communication.” Michael + Teralyn
“It’s hard to keep the spark because we are so busy. But when we have our date nights or when we are able to get away, it reminds us of how much we love each other and our attraction to one another strengthens. We keep ourselves up in a sense of looking good for one another. Staying true to who we are and not losing ourselves because we are married. When my husband looks and smells good, I’m so into him. [And] I make sure I keep it sexy for him.” Teralyn
A love note from Michael:
The love that we share is immeasurable! It’s not easy and takes much sacrifice but it’s more valuable than the air I breathe. You are everything that I’m not and everything that I need at the same time. If there’s a question of my heart, you got it! I don’t want to spend my whole life with you, just a couple of Forevers, will do!
You are my HEART… #forevermylife #forevermywife
