Set on a private residence on Whidbey Island, the rocky coastline of Puget Sound was a perfect backdrop for an intimate elopement.
Marlena & Vincent’s love story began by surprise. After both of them moved from the Midwest to Seattle, they struggled to meet people, make friends, and adjust to the “Seattle Freeze” that they were unaccustomed too. On November 20, 2019, they decided to go on a “friendship interview.” Marlena even messaged Vincent the day before confirming that “this was NOT a date.” Little did they know, a year after that fateful “friendship interview” they would be purchasing a home together!
On the defining two-year mark of their ironically coined “friendship interview,” Vincent proposed and of course, Marlena said yes. They set off planning an intimate wedding and ultimately tied the knot on 2-2-22 at 2 pm! Surrounded by their immediate families from the east coast, they couldn’t have pictured a more perfect day.

How they met…
I moved to Seattle May 2018 for a job opportunity, and Vincent in July 2019 for Commercial Driver School. He never intended to stay in Seattle past his graduation date and I never intended to settle down.
Making friends in a new city can be hard, especially for two Midwesterners not accustomed to the Seattle Freeze, so we met for a “friendship interview” on November 20, 2019, and have been inseparable ever since – I literally texted him that morning to confirm it was NOT a date, and less than a year later we purchased a home together.
The proposal…
For our two-year “friendship interview” anniversary Vincent planned a backpacking trip (a first for both of us) to Goldmyer Hot Springs and FINALLY popped the question.
