Jonathan and Veronica’s wedding day was a timeless masterpiece.
From little dancing ballerinas announcing the bride’s arrival to bespoke invitations and aerial performance artists, the couple’s Houston nuptials were filled with touching magical elements.
Even though the bride and groom playfully reminisced about how they had two separate versions of how they initially met in college, they reconnected on Facebook and after a week said yes to each other by going out on their very first date. Veronica’s other yes moment came when she chose her customized gown by designer Ese Azenabor who personally sketched the bride’s gown at a pop-up dress event in Houston, Texas. The bride’s glamorous dream dress featured a custom train and veil with all white-hued stones including pearls which coordinated with Jonathan’s handmade formal white tuxedo with tails from suit designer Don Morphy.
The ceremony and reception was a fantastic mix of the couple’s tastes which was topped off with a luxe seven tiered sugar flower wedding cake. Veronica and Jonathan emphasized for other couples, “Figure out what’s important to you both and if something is a dealbreaker for your spouse but you don’t really care one way or the other, then let them choose that.”

How did you meet?
We both have two different stories of how we met haha. No but actually we had an environmental science class together at Baylor our freshman year, Jonathan vividly remembers every detail even him asking me for a study guide one day and I apparently turned him down. Lol. I was pretty quiet and kept to myself and my small circle of friends at school so I am pretty sure that interaction is accurate, I just don’t remember it.
Skip forward a few years and we are both Facebook friends with many mutual connections. I noticed Jonathan liking some of my photos and of course I had to run through his page which intrigued me to ask a few mutual friends who he was. After that I sent him a Facebook message and he started our convo off with the fact that he asked me for a study guide one day at Baylor and I let him down! Lol. From there you can imagine our first conversation was pretty funny, we had our first date about a week later and the rest is history.
What Was The Wedding Shopping Experience Like For You?
I wore an Ese Azenabor dress. It was pretty funny actually because I went to NYC to find a dress with like 10 people from my family, we went to Kleinfields and I just couldn’t find a dress that felt like it was made for me. The weekend I came back in town Ese was having a pop up in Houston, so I decided to go not thinking I was actually going to find anything, so I only brought one person with me. I tried on two dresses, the second one I loved part of it but something still wasn’t right. That’s when Ese sketched a custom design out for me from the dress that I tried on but with the specifics that I wanted.
I knew that was my dress without a doubt! I absolutely loved working with Ese, the gown she ended up designed was way better than I imagined, I wanted a custom train and veil and all of the beading on my gown to be stones with a pearl or white hue, no silvers or golds. The process with Ese was so seamless and she knew what I wanted without me even knowing to ask for it.
Describe Your Wedding Attire
Jonathan chose Don Morphy for his tux. He was actually on a brochure card I received after going to Esé’s pop up so I asked him to check him out, and our wedding planner Chi highly recommended him as well. His shop was also right down the street from Esé’s and Dallas so it worked out great when we both needed to go for fittings or pickups.
What Is Your Best Memory From Your Wedding?
One favorite part of the day for the both of us was just being so chill and excited and able to enjoy each part of the day without being stressed. We were even texting each other that morning and chatting on the phone about stuff we may have left at home lol it just felt like such a normal day and that’s exactly how we wanted to feel. So relaxed.
Another favorite for us both was seeing each other for the first time while walking down the aisle, I’ll never forget that moment and it just felt like no one else was in the room. There’s so many more memories we both loved such as seeing our dream reception area for the first time that Chi designed, and getting to dance all night with all of our friends and fam!
What Is The Best Wedding Advice You Can Give To Engaged Couples?
I think we had it pretty easy because we both liked and wanted pretty much the same things. But for the few things that one of us didn’t really care about, such as me with cake as I’m not a dessert eater, I left the decision to Jonathan’s tastes. And for Jonathan he didn’t really care so much about the tablescape design so he kind of let me choose those particular items.
So I would say just work together, figure out what’s important to you both and if something is deal breaker for your spouse but you don’t really care one way or the other, then let them choose that. It’s just all about working together and supporting each other so the day can truly feel like the both of your special day.
