A few weeks ago we announced a partnership with Tristar Films and Anjolique Bridal to offer one lucky bride-to-be a chance to win an Anjolique gown as worn by Paula Patton in the upcoming film, Jumping the Broom, or any Anjolique wedding gown of her choice. In addition, the winning couple would win 2 tickets to the Red Carpet Hollywood premiere of the film on May 4th. To enter the contest, entrants had to tell us their engagement story and how two worlds converged to form the perfect union. Entrant with the most compelling story wins. After reading through hundreds of entries, we have selected a winner. Congratulations to Rachel Bonas out of Moscow, Idaho!
“My fiancée Gbenga & I met in grad school in Moscow, Idaho of all places. We joke about our unlikely meeting as both Gbenga and I are from warm tropical climates (Nigeria and Trinidad and Tobago respectively) and Idaho is about as far away from that warmth as you can get. Christmas of 2011 we visited LA to enjoy some warm weather, unfortunately LA had an unexpected cold snap. Trying to escape that cold, we took a drive to Vegas and the Grand-Canyon. Unfortunately the cold followed us, forcing us to cut the road-trip short and stay in Vegas. While in an unnaturally cold, rainy, very wet and kinda flooded Las Vegas, after taking a stroll to the Bellagio for the late night water show, Gbenga got down on one knee in the rain and proposed. In total shock I started crying and after about 3 minutes of water works from me I said YES. Our two similar but drastically different cultures require us to be more open minded, tolerant and communicative with each other than most couples. Our union has not been about joining Gbenga and I but joining two units to make one LARGE multi-continent family.” – Rachel Bonas
Congrats again Rachel. We look forward to seeing what gown you pick. And much thanks to everyone who participated in the contest. Don’t forget, Jumping the Broom opens in theaters this week, May 6th. Go out and support the film, take your significant other, or even your mother for Mother’s Day. We are sure you will just love this film. And stay tuned for another huge giveaway in the coming months.
