Yakentha and Casey would be the perfect muses for a pop star’s next big love song. Instead of “Love on Top”, their song would be called “Love by Accident” or “I Got Hit by Love” – literally. Yakentha and Casey met, literally, by accident: they were involved with a car accident with each other. Instead of getting hit with anger and rage, they were struck with deep love. And so, the journey begins :) Enjoy meeting this couple as you view their artistic e-session shot by Sobitart Photography.
The Bride: Yakentha Cadet
The Groom: Casey Britton
The Location: North Haledon, NJ
The Wedding Date: August 2, 2012
The Meeting ….. “Casey and I met through a car accident. I was turning off an intersection and he hit my car. When we both got out of the car, there was an instant connection. Best car accident of my life happened 2 and half years ago! We needed to exchange numbers to keep in contact about the repair and damages for my vehicle, and he never stopped calling after our first conversation about the “accident”.”
The Proposal ….. “Casey proposed to me at his apartment. He tricked me into thinking that he brought me shoes. After opening the shoe box, I then saw the small box inside which was empty. As I turned to him to get an explanation as to why my ring box was empty, he was on one knee with another ring box with my ring at hand.”
The Wedding Theme & Culture ….. “My event is going to be themed “New York meets New Orleans.” Casey and I are literally from two entirely different places. I grew up in Harlem, New York and Casey is from New Orleans. The challenge that is faced here is incorporating a mixture of each side of our family to represents our different worlds to the fullest potential. Casey’s mom passed away when he was 16 and she loves the New Orleans culture. I want Casey to feel the presence of his mom on our special day by exhibiting a part of her New Orleans spirit throughout the day. I plan to have a jazz group come out from New Orleans to perform at the reception. Casey’s entire family from Louisiana will be travelling to New York for the wedding. This will be the first time many of them will have ever been to New York. I want to make this a memorable experience for them so that they can understand the true spirit of New York and enjoy the city to its maximum potential. The challenge I face with this vision is the time and money needed to get them to places I would like them to go in the city. My family is from Haiti and I am rooted deep with the Haitian culture, despite the fact that I was born here in America. I want to be able to embody my Haitian culture in the wedding as well. I am inspired by the Haitian culture in many ways and want to ensure that I bring in some Haitian traditions into my wedding. The planning is a bit difficult since the wedding is in New York and currently both Casey and I are in New Orleans. I come up to New York every four months to check on the status of everything, but sometimes it is difficult being so far away from where the event will take place.”
{You Make Loving You So Easy}
What Casey most loves about Yakentha ….. “He loves my Haitian Toes :) I believe the one thing other than my Haitian toes that Casey loves about me is that I am so different from him, but I complement him well in his thoughts, jokes, ideas, strengths and weaknesses.”
What Yakentha most loves about Casey ….. “I love that Casey balances me. I love that he is truly everything I am not in every sense of the phrase. We can get far on our own; but we have realized that together, we make FIRE.”
Yakentha and Casey, congratulations!!! May you continue to make FIRE together and may your love burn until the end of time.
