We feature hundreds of weddings, and amongst those, some of our most popular weddings are yellow -themed. It’s one of those color choices that can be absolutely fabulous, or horribly executed. You’ve got to find the perfect balance, and pair it with the right tone. In this inspiration shoot from Sophia Negron Photography, yellow fabulously takes center stage to create a bold, modern, and vibrant focal point. We love the fancy headpieces by Leah C, and the intricate detailing on the stationery provided by Ceci New York.
From the photographer:
Weddings have traditionally been dominated by neutral and soft blush tones. Over the past years these palettes have become somewhat more adventurous with more saturated pinks and purples. However, 2013 and 2014 are proving to be the brightest yet in terms of the involvement and celebration of bright and vibrant colors in weddings. Couples are making more adventurous color choices and new shades not usually associated with weddings are making a bold debut. Couples are becoming more sophisticated and design focused. Details abound and color is front and center!
We were inspired by the bright colors utilized all over the galleries and public spaces of the stately New York Historical Society. Ultimately, we chose to celebrate the optimism inherent in weddings by setting our inspiration shoot in the yellow-infused Caffè Storico, the NYHS restaurant operated by Stephen Starr. Professionals in the bridal industry are currently seeing yellow being enjoyed by the most bold and fashion forward of couples.
Combining the chic elegance of the NHYS with ball gowns by Amsale and couture headpieces by NYC milliner Leah C, we created scenes that used the many spaces and dramatic features of the venue. We wanted to illustrate that high fashion and chic weddings are increasingly incorporating bold color choices and details. The dramatic indoor staircase and wooden doors, plus the front steps facing Central Park West were the perfect foil to the yellow interior.
Dramatic ball gowns with light, whimsical details and “blingy” jewelry were paired with fanciful and bold yellow head pieces, and were ultimately brought together with a glorious yellow floral vision. The style created has the fresh, clean and confident look of the contemporary couple, combined with the classic, luxurious, and polished expectations of a high-drama wedding in NYC.”

WOW! WOW! WOW… Beautiful shots and stunning location. Everthing compliments each other. So glad I saw this article. Yellow is my fav color and family and friends are so sceptical with my color choice. My wedding is next month and I’m sticking to my color. This article/shoot has silenced my doubts. Hope it will silence the sceptics too.
Photographer and stylist did a fantastic job. Well done to them.
