Bride & Groom: Yurirka & Joel
Location of Wedding: Woodland Park, NJ
Wedding Date: May 28, 2017
Yurirka and Joel’s love story began while both were attending college in Miami, Florida. Yurirka’s roommate at the time invited her out to a local party. Upon arriving they realized it was the birthday party of Joel. For Joel, Yurirka’s arrival was the greatest gift he could have ever received – it was love at first sight for him. He was on a mission to capture Yurirka’s attention, who was somewhat apprehensive about him. But his sweet persistence paid off, and in Yurirka’s words, “I eventually gave him a chance and we’ve been inseparable ever since!”
Fast forward into their relationship, on a rainy Sunday night. Yurirka and Joel decided to take her brothers out to dinner in NYC; the youngest of her brothers was home for spring break. After dinner, on the walk back to the car, Joel decides to guide them on a shorter route through Bryant Park. The park was closed and empty of people. Yurirka walked by Joel’s side while her brothers walked behind them. When they reached the center of the park Joel points out how lovely the rain looked in the lights reflecting on the green field. Yurirka looked over to admire the scene and when she turned back Joel was down on one knee. Before he was able to say anything Yurirka began screaming with happiness – her heart so full of joy.
Yurirka and Joel’s country club wedding was modern and unique. Yurirka looked stunning in her custom Galia Lahav wedding gown with her favorite accessory being her mother’s veil. Yurirka honored their love by wearing it on her most special of days, in her words, “my father and mother are everything to me and they have been happily married for over thirty years. The love I see between them, is what I aspire for my marriage to look like.”
Best memories: The ceremony was full of energy and excitement. From the sounds of the delicate harp & violins to walking down the aisle to angelic voice of an opera singer singing Ave Maria, it was a dream come true and it was such an emotional moment for me and it set a tone for our ceremony that was indescribable. Our ceremony was sacred to us and we wanted to create that energy with simplicity and focusing our guests on us and the importance of what brought all of our family and friends together which was God and our wonderful sacred union. The food at the Westmount Country Club was absolutely incredible from every seafood dish possible to fresh Italian stations and the most amazing sushi bar at the cocktail hour, to serving a four-course plated dinner at the reception – it was absolutely amazing and guests could not stop raving about it for months! The décor was INSANE! It was everything I envisioned and beyond! All thanks to Kisha and her team for making my dreams come true! It was the perfect blend of modern meets elegance, a complete vision of white which is what I always wanted! As for our reception, it was the most amazing, elegant, fun wedding that any of our guests have ever been to! They still cannot stop raving about how we brought Grammy award nominee Toño Rosario as a surprise performer! Having him perform was extremely important to us because he is one of our favorite Dominican artists and it allowed us to celebrate our love for our country, the Dominican Republic, and our love for our culture, and there is no other way we would have wanted it. It was not only an absolute dream of a wedding it was the best party ever! Our wedding was perfection!

Advice for brides: I’m so grateful I found a Designer/Planner that has the same philosophy – make your wedding your own. Stand out. Don’t follow the trends, set them. Don’t do what everyone else is doing because it seems like it’s what you are supposed to do. Enjoy your wedding! Dance, eat, drink – have a blast! You only get one chance to do it – have no regrets!
