How They Met
“In 2006, I was an Army reservist on active duty at Fort Benning, GA and went to Birmingham, AL for Labor day weekend. I met Rahmad through a mutual friend. 4 months later I moved to Birmingham to be closer to him. The rest is history. In February 2012 Rahmad surprised me by popping the question in front of 20 of our closest friends and family at Aloft Hotel.”
Wedding Details
“The wedding came 6 years almost to the day we met. It was a vintage themed affair complete with an historical manor as a locale and lots of antiques from china to settees to the bride’s something blue- an antique blue Chevy owned by the father of the bride.. The colors were blush pink, black and white stripes and Tiffany blue.
I have always had a love affair with pink. So for my wedding gown I knew only a pink gown would do and only Vera Wang could design the perfect pink gown. I purchased my blush pink Vera Wang at David’s Bridal. But a dress off the rack was not quite enough so I had the mother of one of my bridesmaids, a seamstress, customize my dress.
We decided to jump the broom to pay homage to our African ancestors during the time of slavery.”
You Make Loving You So Easy
From him… “My cooking. I love to cook and entertain. I’m always planning surprise parties and get togethers for him. It’s my way of saying “I love you.”
From her… He makes me laugh. It sounds cliche but he really cracks my side! He’s patient and I know no one could put up with me like he does and still find things to laugh about.”
