A little over a week ago, our newest issue went on sale on newsstands throughout the country. I always get a major rush of anxiety and excitement when a new issue is released...as if it's the first issue. There's so much that goes into putting each edition together with our little team over here in Jersey so it's always a breath of fresh air to actually have the new issue in our hands.
This issue is extra special for us. For the first time, we have multiple covers. And I'm not talking about multiple front covers...but instead, a front, back, and both inside covers are all dedicated to our covergirl Nikia Phoenix. She was such a darling to work with, and is extremely talented. Check out her blog here and the video below from our LA tourstop. Thx to MaeB Films for the video.[vimeo url="http://vimeo.com/94173176" width="600"]
In addition, we included our mission statement on the first page...which I believe resonates with every bride and speaks to our overall purpose here at Munaluchi - to showcase the beauty that is diversity. In this issue you'll find weddings and inspiration shoots from across the globe, of all budgets and cultures. Each of them are different in their own way, but all of them exhibit exceptional style.
For our cover, we worked with Elizabeth Messina, who never ceases to create magic when we collaborate. The images are soft, ethereal and powerful all at the same time and it's always a complete pleasure to create pretty photos with her. She's passionate about the work she does and it shows through her artistry.
The name MunaLuchi holds a special place in our hearts. It is the combination of two African names which when fused together mean, "Beautiful Work of God"…
Perfectly describing our brides..
The MunaLuchi bride is bold, beautiful, worldly…She is witty, vibrant and free. She loves the finer things in life, and is not afraid to go after what she wants. She exudes style and grace and is determined to look her very best not just on her wedding day, but every day. She yearns to embrace her culture and seeks inspiration that speaks to her. She comes in all sizes and shades. Simply put, she is beautiful no matter what skin she's in.
Our mission is to promote positive images of women of color…because we believe positive imagery is the threshold for confidence…and confidence inspires self love.
We aspire to inspire...
