Lisa Guillory McCauley and Robert McCauley III knew they wanted a wedding that was elegant and sophisticated with lots of New Orleans charm. So they teamed up with their planner, Tara Melvin of Perfect Planning, to ensure their wedding was a festive celebration of their love and culture. During the couple's traditional Catholic ceremony, guests were inspired by live local music played by Chelsey Green of The Green Project. Lisa was radiant in a dropped waist ballgown, and she carried a lovely bouquet filled with roses and feathers. After the ceremony, guests headed to the George Washington Masonic Memorial were they were captivated by the stunning architecture and luxurious decor. Melvin shares, "The theme was to create an ice blue mirage with the usage of feathers to create a New Orleans classic style wedding with a modern look. The table centerpieces included white hydrangeas, white roses, white ostrich feathers, and crystal branches on top of antique silver candelabras. The white ostrich feathers signified the feathers in the costumes that are used during Mardi Gras but with a lavish look and feel. The blue hue from the uplighting in the room gave the room the ice blue color to represent the bodies of water that surround New Orleans; New Orleans is the origin of the Bride’s family. The DJ also played New Orleans music, Cajun & Zydeco, mixed with R&B, so that her family members would be able to experience New Orleans base sounds." Michael Clark Photographers captured all of the exquisite details of this lovely Virginia wedding with a New Orleans feel.

Incorporation of Culture
My family is from Louisiana, so we added feathers for a bit of a Mardi Gras inspiration.
Most Memorable Moment
The DJ put on a New Orleans jazz mix to a Marvin Gaye song and my family got up and surrounded me and danced around me....it was a page right out of a New Orleans wedding - my favorite memory.
