Engagement Sessions

Remember Savannah

Krista + Tom
Proposal: November 6, 2010

From the bride…

My birthday was coming up and my mind was focused on the trip my boyfriend had planned to Savannah, GA. I was excited. Especially since I had never been before and had heard that it’s a pretty romantic city. I was picturing romantic dinners and boat cruises. I had no idea there was a plot afoot.

Arriving at our hotel in Savannah was disappointing since the room wasn’t ready, but we decided to go exploring the city a bit and grab lunch. While eating I noticed a couple at the adjacent table to us and the woman continually was looking at her left hand and smiling from ear to ear. I put two and two together and realized they had just got engaged! I was various shades of green and was gushing over her ring and how perfect it was and how my boyfriend should take notes because that was the exact ring I wanted. He was less than enthused and said the ring looked cheap.

We left after lunch and went back to the hotel where we checked in and I noticed he was acting very jumpy and weird. It was the day before my birthday so he asked if I wanted my gift now or the next day. I said the next day. And he started pressuring me saying that I shouldn’t wait and I’d be sorry and a host of other reasons for opening it a day early. I finally agreed and he made me leave the room so he could sign my card, and after a long flight and exploring I was just tired and naturally refused and offered to not look or go in the bathroom. Then he insisted strongly that I leave.

Once I returned back to the room I didn’t see any package or anything so I was confused and so unaware of what was coming. He handed me the card and as I started reading, it was filled with wonderful compliments and how he thought I was special and the only woman for him. I was crying reading his card because it was so sweet. Then I saw him out of the corner of my eye kneel next to me and I looked up and he asked me to marry him. I hugged him and he asked if that was a yes and if I wanted to look at the ring. I had not been able to see the ring because my eyes were full of tears! I screamed and said YES. It was a great night in Savannah that I will never forget…EVER.
