For Victoria and Derrick that common denominator represents even more as it is the setting of their first meeting, after which, as Victoria puts it, “from that point on, it was love.”

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. We met at a basketball game at my (Victoria’s) high school. From that point on, it was love. Even to this day, going to basketball games is one of our favorite things to do together. Movies are our other favorite thing to do. At a family function, several years after that meeting in Indianola at a basketball game, Derrick proposed.

What was wedding shopping like for you? Wedding shopping was loads of fun for me. Not as stressful as I thought it would be. Mainly because my friends and family made it such a great experience. My wedding dress was perfect. The moment I tried it on, I knew it was the one. My twin sister actually selected the dress. Needless to say, she knows what I like.
